[ Marita has spent the past few days at the library in an attempt to scourge any information she can find ― her discovery being next to none other than what she knows of her own world. She's leafed through pages upon other worlds, stopping to take an interest here and there to read lines and paragraphs that jump out at her, until the words began to blur into dark lines of letters and phrases muddled together in an unreadable mess.
It all sounded quite fictional to her.
Of course, if proper information were that easy to obtain then she wouldn't be looking for it in public facilities. Despite her not knowing where her stance lies in this world, she is fairly settled in; she's already rid herself of the white sundress and now adorns the regular comfort of her clean-cut suits and skirts. She feels in control, despite knowing she isn't. ]
It looks as if I am not the only one who has currently arrived here, considering the mass influx of others who have as well. The powers here seem to find their work unlimited to just one universe or one abduction.
Which poses the question: if not God then how powerful of a being could ever commit pulling people from multiple worlds to bring them into one singular world? Have they crossed over into our own worlds to effect the nature of it or is their power just limited to bringing us to this place alone? Is time altered in our absence?
There are more questions begged to be asked, but having diplomatic experience in a location without a city hall seems not to matter if we are here against our own will.

International relations and human rights.

Ah yes... that would imply a government organization correct?
no subject
United Nations. More of an organization than working with the State or Government. We usually provide ambivalence and negotiation as to avoid conflict between countries, rather than attempt to meddle with their politics. Although, that too is sometimes required.

[Spock... has lots of questions for Miss Marita... but he will wait until they can meet.]
text → action
[ Marita touches up a bit on her make-up, fixes any stray hairs that may have arisen, and gives one last look in the mirror before she leaves her room. It does not take her long to discover the tea house, easily finding the way from her earlier assessment. She is not quite sure what to expect ― in both meeting Spock and conversing with someone in public who isn't in any consortium, a double agent, or anything else she has dealt with the past few years of her life.
It is a strange and terrifying thought to her that, while on the business of Luceti, this is not meant to be a conversation about the conspiracies she was used to and dabbled in. The freedom it expressed is far too false for her to find any comfort in for how much she's endured. A bird does not leave it's open cage without the contemplation of flying first.
Hesitantly, she opens the door to the teashop and takes a step inside. ]
Re: text → action
He is looking forward to conversing with Miss Marita... there are very few people who are interested in such things...
It does not take him long to make it to the tea shop... and looks around for someone who may be her...]

Mr. Spock... [ Her voice is smooth as she rises to greet him with her hand extended and her demeanor all business, despite the casual setting of the teashop. ] Marita Covarrubias.
I hope you don't mind that I've already ordered while waiting. [ She motions to the table where her tea sits steaming and untouched. ]
no subject
Not at all...
[Spock lets go and gestures to the clerk at the counter... who gives Spock his usual mint tea... and joins Marita at her table.]
May I inquire as to how you have been adjusting to Luceti?
no subject
She shifts a little bit. ] The wings feel strange, but since I've yet to witness any of the strange so-called experiments yet myself... the adjustment has been going well.
no subject
The experiments though... I am afraid I can issue no warning except to mentally prepare yourself. [Spock gives her a look that implies that 'yes, they can be tough'...
...and takes a sip of his tea.]
no subject
What are the purpose of these wings? Other than to provide some kind of warning by these... so-called scientists.
no subject
Communication purposes. It would seem that the Malnosso use things wings as a means for everyone to understand each other's language. Otherwise... they seem to serve no further purpose...
[Which is rather unfortunate... Spock wouldn't have minded if he could fly.]
However, if they are damaged too severely, you die. Though you return in a week's time, there is a penalty for death. Something about you is... taken away.
no subject
[ The strangeness of a non-permanent death causes her to furrow her eyebrows. ] Taken away...? Such as?
no subject
...For individuals who possess certain powers, they can be taken away...
There are numerous examples, but I believe that will suffice. Some can get rather cruel, but the Malnosso and their segregated faction have a tendency of being rather... sadistic.
Kidnappings are a rather common occurrence... those too usually end in a 'penalty' as well... though those have a tendency to be rather more humiliating.
no subject
[ Still, she has a hard time accepting it. She does not know which is worse: being experimented on for the result of a vaccine or subjected to experiments for no greater purpose. The thought of fluorescent lights and metallic walls still make her sick to her stomach. ]
What kind of penalties?
no subject
I myself just returned without my sight... Other examples range from being turned into an animal, opposite gender, speaking in rhymes...
I have a theory that the Malnosso live off our reactions.

[Spock's eyes convey a certain amount of frustration at her next inquiry...]
There is not enough information. Though a safe assumption is that they are... 'collectors'....they are... curious.
no subject
Mr. Spock... Has anyone ever told you that you exist in their world? Someone you don't recognize, perhaps.
no subject
...but his mouth twitches in a half-smile.]
Indeed. Most seem to know of me through a television series. Though there are many differences and inconsistencies... it is rather a source of amusement.
[His expression turns more somber...]
However, that is not me... Has something similar happened to you?
no subject
no subject
...wrong thing to say.]
There are several universes here represented.... in my universe, I am not fiction.
There are those in Luceti who only exist in fiction in my universe... and they, as are the rest of us, are decidedly real in this place.

I do not believe that is how they function. It is not a matter of existence or non-existence... For they too are trapped in this world.
It is the world itself that concerns me.

Unless this world itself were a simulation...
