[ Marita has spent the past few days at the library in an attempt to scourge any information she can find ― her discovery being next to none other than what she knows of her own world. She's leafed through pages upon other worlds, stopping to take an interest here and there to read lines and paragraphs that jump out at her, until the words began to blur into dark lines of letters and phrases muddled together in an unreadable mess.

It all sounded quite fictional to her.

Of course, if proper information were that easy to obtain then she wouldn't be looking for it in public facilities. Despite her not knowing where her stance lies in this world, she is fairly settled in; she's already rid herself of the white sundress and now adorns the regular comfort of her clean-cut suits and skirts. She feels in control, despite knowing she isn't. ]

It looks as if I am not the only one who has currently arrived here, considering the mass influx of others who have as well. The powers here seem to find their work unlimited to just one universe or one abduction.

Which poses the question: if not God then how powerful of a being could ever commit pulling people from multiple worlds to bring them into one singular world? Have they crossed over into our own worlds to effect the nature of it or is their power just limited to bringing us to this place alone? Is time altered in our absence?

There are more questions begged to be asked, but having diplomatic experience in a location without a city hall seems not to matter if we are here against our own will.

You sound almost certain that we were brought here with express intent.

You do not think we were brought here for a reason?

[reminded]

I find myself knowing less and less what to think. At first, I thought much the same as you -- that we were brought here by an invested party in order to play some role. But the longer I stay, the less purpose I find in our presence. Whether that's good or bad is up to you, I suppose.

I suppose questioning the existence of human nature never quite changes, even when brought to a new world.

I didn't mean anything so existential, but I suppose that's true as well. Some of the residents can get impressively philosophical when they want to.

[But right.] Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Hershel Layton. You are newly arrived, correct?

Marita Covarrubias. [ She is still hesitant to use her name, but figures that if Mulder is here, then perhaps it is not as dangerous to reveal herself over public network, as much as her paranoia tells her otherwise. ] Yes, I arrived here two days ago.

A late welcome, then. Have you found the village hospitable?

The wings are a strange addition, but everything else seems no different compared to what I am used to back home.

[reminded]

I'm glad to hear it. Even so, you seem to be taking the whole situation well in stride.

[descrier]

The same could be said for you as well, Mr. Layton. How long have you been here?

[reminded]

Two months. Not a terribly long time, but it feels I've been away from London for thrice that amount. I can't imagine what it's like for those who have been here for years on end.

[descrier]

Time passes quicker than one expects it to.

Have you been subject to any of the so-called experiments here?

[reminded]

Not myself, no, but I know those who have. One has even been made younger, as if his personal clock was wound back a number of years. The Malnosso scientists are formidable; the wings on our backs are evidence of that.

Malnosso scientists? Are they a corporation of some kind?

[reminded]

Of a sort, yes. Though they claim not to be responsible for our presence in this world, they are responsible for everything else, including the enclosure itself. There is a guide explaining much of what we know here.

Thank you, I appreciate it. [ She keeps it in mind to read it later on her own. ]

I am curious as to what your theories are on how we were brought here, Mr. Layton. Or more importantly, why.

[reminded]

I'm afraid I don't know nearly enough to make a cohesive theory. At the moment, it seems nothing more than a very disruptive accident, like a magnetic force drawn too close. It may be why people are drawn and dispelled from here so erratically.

How frequently do people come and go from here? I assume that, because I am not the only new one here, that it happens in groups. Although, there is sure to be no correlation between the groups since some people are here longer than others.

[reminded]

Arrivals come sporadically over a span of weeks with about two months between the start of each cycle. Departures are less predictable, however. Some stay for as little as a month while others have already been here for years.

The lack of patterns is unusual for an operation this large, assuming those who are departed do not have what the scientists are looking for. Even so, there is no discernible pattern of why one is brought here and why one is not. Or why one is brought here from some time ago while another is brought very recently without the management of time missing or the absence of the person themselves.

There is no such thing as 'random' but maybe there is something that is being withheld from us that truly states their intentions. The lack of information in general makes it complicated.

The gaps in our knowledge are undoubtedly vexing. To make matters even more complicated, there are a number of enclosures besides our own whose populations vary in condition and temperament. Perhaps we here in Luceti all share a common trait unbeknownst to us. I don't know enough myself to shed further light on the matter, but you are right to say there is a great deal of vital information being kept from us.

Other enclosures? You mean various locations with different abductees?

[reminded]

Correct. I know of the Kin'corans, whose enclosure was invaded by the Cultists, forcing them to take refuge here in Luceti some months ago. Then there are the Vaskoth, who live in an enclosure much more populated and metropolitan than ours. I believe a number of us were sent there on a draft.

Is there a list somewhere of those who were drafted? Or the name of someone who has been to these places? I would assume there it little information on these enclosures otherwise that speaking to someone who has experienced it personally is the only way to get any information.

A list of those sent to the Vaskoth enclosure is contained in this announcement. I believe draftees from other enclosures were present as well, but I couldn't tell you the details. As for the Kin'corans, anyone who was present during this past August should be able to help you.
