[ Marita has spent the past few days at the library in an attempt to scourge any information she can find ― her discovery being next to none other than what she knows of her own world. She's leafed through pages upon other worlds, stopping to take an interest here and there to read lines and paragraphs that jump out at her, until the words began to blur into dark lines of letters and phrases muddled together in an unreadable mess.
It all sounded quite fictional to her.
Of course, if proper information were that easy to obtain then she wouldn't be looking for it in public facilities. Despite her not knowing where her stance lies in this world, she is fairly settled in; she's already rid herself of the white sundress and now adorns the regular comfort of her clean-cut suits and skirts. She feels in control, despite knowing she isn't. ]
It looks as if I am not the only one who has currently arrived here, considering the mass influx of others who have as well. The powers here seem to find their work unlimited to just one universe or one abduction.
Which poses the question: if not God then how powerful of a being could ever commit pulling people from multiple worlds to bring them into one singular world? Have they crossed over into our own worlds to effect the nature of it or is their power just limited to bringing us to this place alone? Is time altered in our absence?
There are more questions begged to be asked, but having diplomatic experience in a location without a city hall seems not to matter if we are here against our own will.

It shouldn't take me long to read it, but I know that it will raise more questions than answer them. I assume you know a place where nobody will be intruding on the eventual conversation?

[So it's less likely to have people around, especially certain areas around it.]
I'll see you then.

Despite living in New York for so long, she does not expect that she would be walking this long, but she knows that is the point. Secrecy is still imminent and this was easy compared to flying down to DC and back in a single day, just for a few bouts of information.
She waits for him, hands in her pockets, staring at the lake beside her. ]

[It's amazing how much this feels like the old days all of a sudden, how much it brings him back to that frame of mind, to home and all of its troubles that he'd left behind. But he's relieved to see that she looks... much the same as when he'd last seen her, aside from the wings. That doesn't tell him much, of course, and while he's curious to discuss timelines, there's a lot that they have to get to. One thing at a time.]
I hope I'm not running too late.
[But really, in this place, what are you ever keeping anyone from? Jobs, meetings with Assistant Directors, anything like that, simply don't exist.]

I haven't been waiting long. It took me awhile to find this place.

[And honestly, there are some conveniences about that life that he admittedly misses. He's adapted, but still, it's not quite the same as life in DC.]
I'm glad we're able to meet, even given the circumstances. Which... can be summed up as being exactly like home, just on a much grander scale.
[Essentially. Take out certain details, change them, and you have the very same conspiracies they used to deal with on a regular basis.]

Yes, I have read about those... they're similar to the implant that the abductees had when— [ She does not touch upon Scully's abduction, as it is not her place, so she tries to think of a different way of wording it. ] —they were subjected to similar experiments. Aren't they?

[...That's the last he remembers hearing from Martia, he realizes, related to that last incident. They'd been discussing something about the same in Kazakhstan- she'd had a witness with her, she'd said- but then she'd gotten cut off. Something had happened. From that point, she hadn't contacted him, nor could he reach her...]
[Trying not to let his thoughts distract him, he keeps his mind on the present.]
Eerily similar, in purpose, and they're even in the same location. I'm assuming they play a role in the experiments, in addition to their tracking use. They're also impossible to remove.

I was told that the wings are used for communication... to hold one single language so that everyone here can speak and understand each other simultaneously. [ Ideal, but only Biblical, she always tells herself. If the world could speak on singular language, it would be a tremendous breakthrough in a way of finding world peace and proper diplomacy. ] I would ask how that is even possible... but I'm assured that there would be no answer for it. At least, not from those brought here from another world.
no subject
That's right. At the present time, we can't determine how they enable wide-scale language comprehension, only that it's part of their function. Everything we have is only speculation- whether it alters everything we say directly, or just our perception...

[ She supposes the Malnosso are not that willingly foolish, but if they brought Scully here — could it be the same with a surgeon in the proper trade? ]

There's a lot of difficulty inherent in examining the wings. Even just taking off a couple feathers is painful, and anything more is worse, and becomes even more debilitating, with, of course, a risk of death if both wings are lost...

no subject
I could see the wings playing a role in that process. They're so closely tired to our life force as it is...

I presume that just you, me, and Agent Scully are the only ones here from our world? Despite these... scientists having a familiar ring to them.
no subject
We're the only ones so far. The pattern for arrivals appears to be mostly random, although there are a few things I've noticed...
Of the six billion or so people living on our earth, three of us who are familiar with each other are brought here. I don't think that's a coincidence. Of course, some people can go here for long stretches of time without anyone else arriving, so there's no telling how it works.

Just a few days ago, someone brought up the theory that this world is some sort of... simulation. A virtual reality, for lack of a better term. That we do not notice someone from our own world is missing, because the lengths to remove someone from our universe without any trace is far beyond space and time in our world. That perhaps we are not entirely here and are able to have experiments heavily subjected on us by artificial intelligence.
no subject
Nice theory. It's fully possible, and the effects that we experience could just be the result of experimental programs that they run. Speaking from experience, being trapped in a virtual world by an AI feels real enough, no matter how outlandish the events happening inside it.
[Oh, karate Scully, he will never forget you.]
It also poses its own dangers, and one has to wonder what purpose they'd have in using us to test such simulations.
no subject
It would make sense for the case of... those borne from fiction in another world existing here, but as for the purpose... I would have to wonder what these scientists would gain from placing us in a false world for the sake of experimentation. Testing for endurance ― all physical, psychological, and emotional ― makes sense only if they have a reason for it.
There is something much bigger in play here.

[He never did quite get the idea to "stop working", since he's been here. How could he, when he's essentially immersed in one giant X-File?]
Beyond the enclosure-wide experiments, there are also the personal abductions to consider, but how they select individuals for those is also unknown.

There's no sort of database that can be accessed with an entire list of those currently inhabiting Luceti?
